Creating employment, enhancing lives with A2 milk

Employment Generation

Employment Generation

At Milk Blitz, we honour the age-old Indian tradition of using human hands to milk our buffaloes, a practice carried out by skilled professionals from the Gowala community. These individuals bring a wealth of expertise to this vital process, which has been gradually replaced by mechanisation. Sadly, young members of the Gowala community have been compelled to migrate to urban areas, taking up various blue-collar jobs to earn a livelihood.

By employing Gowalas to milk our buffaloes, we not only ensure the utmost care for our animals, but also benefit from their exceptional craftsmanship and expertise. Our aim extends beyond quality milk production; we aim to provide sustainable livelihoods to the community, while preserving this ancient Indian craft and culture.

The 'spill' over effect of Milk Blitz

  • Our microdairy farm with 75-85 cattle employs 12 helping hands directly
  • A 100 cattle-strong farm requires a minimum of 100 days of civil work, including masonry, plumbing, and electrical work
  • Our microdairies create opportunities for vendors like transporter and supplier of fodder and milk and our nearby partner dairies
  • Local farmers in our 15 km radius have started availing credit from PSU banks to strengthen their dairy business
  • Younger generations who migrated to urban areas for better opportunities are returning to the village

Social Entrepreneurship

Social Entrepreneurship

At our micro-dairy, social entrepreneurship is at the heart of our mission. We firmly believe in fostering a self-sustaining ecosystem by prioritising local hiring practices. Every aspect, from establishing and maintaining our farm to various operational functions, is entrusted to our local workforce. In doing so, we ensure that the local community benefits from employment opportunities.

Our initiative aims not just to prevent youth from migrating to urban areas in search of work but to encourage reverse migration, where they are drawn back to their roots, finding sustainable livelihoods within their own community.
